Nancy al-Majali- Jordanian driver who has been competing in the Middle East Rally Championship for several seasons.

Jayne Auden - young driver who mainly rallies a Peugeot 106. Has won class titles in the BTRDA rally series. Started off competing in the North of England, but now enters rallies around the UK.

Maurizia Baresi - drove for the Aseptogyl ladies' rally team in the 70s, sometimes in a Fiat 127. She was also part of the Alfa Romeo ladies' team for the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally.

Francine Bogg- One of the youngest ever participants in the RAC rally, aged 19. Also drove in the British Championship.  

Marta Candian- Italian driver with a number of creditable World Championship finishes in European rounds, early 2000s.

Severine Carta- French driver who scored wins in class A5 in French rallies in 2001, driving a Citroen AX. Now a co-driver.  

Daisy Cols- Belgian driver from a major rallying family.  

Christine Dacremont- French rally driver and sportscar racer of the 60s and 70s. Scored top-ten finishes on the Monte Carlo and other rallies.  

Jean Denton - rally driver of the 1960s. She did particularly well in long-distance events such as the 1969 London-Sydney rally, in which she won the sportscar class in her MGB. She usually drove BMC/Leyland cars. Later, she became a politician and was made a Baroness. She died in 2001.

Aisling Dooris- young Irish driver competing in the Irish and British championship.

Janie Eaton- youngest ever finisher in the RAC rally aged 18, driving a Ford Ka.

Carita Ekroos - Finnish driver on the late 70s/80s, entered six Rally Finlands in Escorts and Opels.

Viviane Evina - Cameroonian driver who finished 8th in the Bandama Ivory Coast Rally in 1990.

Elisabeth de Fresquet - rallied in France in the 80s and 90s in a series of small cars, including a Trabant. On her later attempts, her co-driver was her daughter, Virginie.

Debbie Garlick - campaigned a Vauxhall Astra and a Peugeot 205/106 in British rallies, in 1995 and 1996 respectively. She died in the 2004 Asian tsunami.

Debbie Gilliver - rallied a Peugeot 205 and a Vauxhall Nov in British rallies in the late 90s. Entered the 1997 Rally GB in the Nova.

Emma Gilmour - driver and co-driver from New Zealand. Has contested her home WRC round in both roles.

Jane Gunningham - competed to British Championship level in a Subaru Impreza. Trained at the prestigious John Haugland rally school in Norway.

Gilly Handley - rallied in Britain in the mid to late 90s, usually in a Vauxhall Nova. She was National Ladies' Rally Champion on a couple of occasions and took part in one WRC round, the 1999 Rally GB, coming 52nd.

Ursula von Hanstein - German rallyist in the 1950s. She was a very capable driver who finished in the top ten of several big European rallies. Her husband was Huschke von Hanstein, the Grand Prix and rally star, and they sometimes drove together on events in his DKW.

Sue Hedley- competes in National level rallies in the UK, hoping to run in the British Championship. First person to rally an LPG-powered car in the UK.

Eeva Heinonen- Finnish driver who rallied in Scandinavia and the UK in the 60s and 70s.  

Margot Henn - German driver who rallied an Alfa Romeo Alfasud TI on the 1983 Monte Carlo event, driving for a ladies' team.

Carina Hermansson - Swedish snow specialist. She was fourth in the 2003 Swedish Snow Rally, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI.

Ruth Hillier - British driver who was 62nd in the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally, her first attempt, driving an Alfa Romeo Alfasud TI. Her navigator that year was Mary Fullerton.

Marianne Hoepfner – French driver of the 70s and early 80s, particularly successful in African rallies. Also raced sportscars.

Isolde Holderied

Barbara Johansson - drove a BMC Mini in rallies in the 60s. One of the leading female entrants in the 1964 Midnight Sun Rally. Also raced touring cars on the track.

Eija Jurvanen- former FIA Ladies’ World Champion. Had a number of good WRC finishes in the 1990s.

Susanne Kottulinsky – Swedish driver of the 80s and early 90s with good finishes in class at home and in a couple of WRC events.

Marja-Liisa Korpi - five times Finnish Ladies' Champion between 1978 and 1982, usually driving a Ford Escort. She drove in several 1000 Lakes Rallies too.

Alison Locke- British historic rally driver with top ten finishes to her name.  

Judy Lucas- drives a VW Polo in British National events. Has scored good class positions.

Paola de Martini – Italian driver, most successful in the early 90s. 9th places on the Monte and San Remo.    

Nancy Mitchell – British driver of the 50s who rallied in Europe to good effect.    

Greta Molander - works Saab driver from Sweden. Competed from the 50s to the 70s and was most successful in the 50s, winning many Coupes des Dames.

Heiderose Mossen- German driver competing in the Middle East, with top ten finishes.

Mascha Mularo - has campaigned a wide variety of cars in Italian rallies since the late 90s. Her best results are a paor of 13th overall places, achieved in the Rally Citta di Torina and the Rally delle Alpi Orientali, in a Renault Clio Williams and Peugeot 306 Maxi respectively.

Marketta Oksala - three-times Finnish Ladies' Champion in the 70s. Six-times entrant of Rally Finland, plus other European WRC events.

Sylvia Osterberg- Swedish driver of the 60s with good results in the UK and Scandinavia.

Grace Owen - rallied a Mini in the British championships in 1997, co-driven by Ali Bohm.

Patricia (Tish) Ozanne - rallied in Europe from the late 50s to 1973. Works BMC driver in the 60s. Best result was 3rd in the 1960 Geneva Rally.

Ada Pace- Italian rally driver and touring car ace of the 50s and 60s. Drove in the Targa Florio several times and was a top ten finisher in touring car races. Normally drove an Alfa Romeo.  

Ruth Paterson- currently driving a VW Polo in the Middle East Championship after navigating for several years.  

Dominique Perrier - entered the 1983 Monte Carlo rally as part of an Alfa Romeo women's team, driving an Alfasud TI.

Marie-Francoise Placq - Belgian driver, entered the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally as part of the Alfa Romeo ladies' team.

Lucette Pointet - French driver of the 60s. Usually drove a Citroen DS, often with Claude Ogier. She was runner-up in the 1968 French rally championship and partnered Rosemary Smith for the London-Sydney Marathon.

Clare Rix  

Mandy Roberts (Bowman)- rallies a Mitsubishi in the UK. Recently came 4th in Panaround National event. Competed in 2003 Evo Challenge.  

Jill Robinson - one of Britain's leading lady drivers in the 70s. She competed in the RAC and also the 1000 Lakes Rally, usually in a Ford Escort, and had a best finish of 28th. She is now married to David Sutton.

Sophie Robinson

Ewy Rosqvist- Swedish driver of the 50s and 60s with many top-ten finishes. Member of the works Mercedes rally team.

Gisella Rovegno - driver and co-driver from Italy. She has competed internationally since 1992, starting as a navigator to Ennio Bini. She last competed in a Fiat Punto S1600 as a co-driver to Fabrizio Tabaton in 2005, as part of the Italian championship. She drove herself between 1999 and 2003.

Clare Samuel- rallies a VW Polo in British National events. Always scores well in Group N1 class standings.

Patrizia Sciascia - Italian Ladies' Rally Champion in 2005. Competes in Italy and Europe and scores well in class.

Sabrina Shaw - youngest-ever competitor on the RAC Rally, aged seventeen years and two months. Also drove in British national rallies in the late 90s.

Annie Soisbault (de Montaigu) - competed across Europe in the 1950s and 60s, scoring many GT and Touring class wins. Triumph works driver in 1958.

Nicole Sol - Belgian driver, entered the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally as part of an Alfa Romeo women's team in 1983. She also appeared as a character in the long-running motorsport comic Michel Vaillant.

Anna Tait - rallied in the UK in the 90s, in the British Championship and the clubmans' series. Her cars up to 1997 were Skodas, but she changed to a Ford Ka in the '98 season. She ran in two RAC Rallies, in 1997 and 1998, retiring both times.

Annabelle Tennant - "The Gravel Granny" has been competing in Scotland and the rest of the UK since 1986. She won two Mintex class championships in 1997 and 1998. In 2007 she will rally an Impreza in the Scottish championship.

Gilberte Thirion  

Jamie Thomas - rallies a Subaru in her homeland of Canada. Has scored many class wins in "Burnsie", her Impreza WRX.

Carita Toivonen - Finnish Ladies' champion in the 80s.

Sheila Van Damm- drove in British and European rallies in the 50s, mainly as a works Rootes driver.  

Meschell Van Tongeren- frontrunner in the Kenyan Rally Championship. Competes across Africa.  

Claudine Vanson-Bouchet (Trautmann)- multiple French champion from the 50s to the 70s. Some good results in European rallies in a Citroen DS especially. Also co-drove for her husband.  

Pernilla Walfridsson  

Edith Weiss- German driver who has contested some WRC and Middle Eastern events.

Waltraud Wünsch - fourth in the 1985 Rallye Köln-Ahrweiler, driving a Citröen Visa. She rallied a number of small cars in the early and mid-80s. Now an organiser of the Rallye Deutschland.

Luisa Zumelli - driver and co-driver from Italy, active from the early 80s to 2004. She drove in five San Remo rallies and later concentrated on Italian national events. Her best finish is second, driving a Renault Clio RS on the Rally del Salento.

 

Cross Country Rallying

Sylviane Goutaland – French veteran of several Paris-Dakar rallies.  

Pascale Geurie - one of the first women to enter the Paris-Dakar rally, in 1979. She was contesting the motorcycle class. On the track, attempted to qualify for Le Mans as well.

Elisabete Jacinto - Portuguese driver who competes in the Truck class of the Dakar, with several good finishes to her name.

Anne Kies – competes in the truck class in rally raids including the Dakar.

Touring Cars and Saloons

Valentina Albanese - Italian one-make specialist who often drives a SEAT. She has achieved good results in individual and team racing.

Kerryn Brewer - took part in various Australian Touring Car races in the 90s. She was twelfth in the 1997 Bathurst 24 Hours with Melinda Price, the highest finish for an all-female team. She also entered in 1998.

Joanna Clarke - ran well in the Fiesta championship. One BTCC race for Team B & Q in a Honda Accord, 10th position. Also raced in Clio Cup.  

Christine Cole (Gibson) - Australian touring car veteran. Took part in nine Bathurst 24 Hours races between 1968 and 1984.

Sabine Dubois - Belgian racer, won the VW Fun Cup 24 Hours with Duchateau and Delcour.

Liane Engeman - raced in European Touring Cars, 1969-72, usually in a Ford or Alfa Romeo. Scored some top-five finishes at the Nurburgring and Spa.

Geunda Eadie - took part in the 1980 BTCC in a Ford Fiesta after winning the Fabergé Ladies' Fiesta Challenge in 1979. Also ran in the RAC Rally.

Yvette Fontaine - winner of the 1969 Belgian Saloon Car Championship. 2nd in 1975 Spa 24 Hours and also raced at Le Mans.

Angela Fontana - raced an Abarth 1000 TC in Europe in 1963, including a run in the Nürburgring 12 Hours with Attilio Zuppini.

Henny Hemmes - multi-talented Dutch driver who competed in touring cars up to European level in the Seventies. Winner of three major races at Zandvoort between 1978 and 1980.

Nicolette van den Hoek Ostende - Dutch driver with wins in touring car endurance races.  

Kelly Jamers - another Belgian racer. Had some solid midfield finishes in the 2003 Clio Cup. Has also raced in Belcar with Alexandra van de Velde.  

Caroline Jansson - Swedish touring car driver. Top 10 finishes in 2003. Daughter of Nettan Lindgren.

Takeda Kanami*UPDATED*    

Traudl Klink - head of TKS Motorsport in Germany. Normally drives in long-distance touring car races, such as the VLN at the Nürburgring and the Dubai 24 Hours. She has had class success in the VLN, German Touring Cup (DTC) and the Ford Fiesta and Renault Clio one-make series. Her other cars have included BMW M3s and VW Golfs.

Tajana Koren - Croatian who races a variety of saloon cars in Europe, most recently in the Skoda Fabia Cup.

Katharina (Kathi) König - German one-make and long-distance specialist. Often drives a Mini and has podium finishes in the German Mini Challenge. Competed in the VLN, with some class success, in 2006.

Linsy Lanssens - raced in Belcar with Alexandra van de Velde and others, usually in a BMW.

Anette Meeuvissen- German who raced in the 80s and 90s, in Europe mainly but also at Bathurst in Australia. Died of cancer in 2004.

Jana Meiswinkel - former champion karter in Germany, now racing in the Toyota Yaris Cup in Europe.

Liliana de Menna - stalwart of the Italian touring car scene who was active from 1963 to 1994. She won a saloon championship in her first year of racing, winning nine races outright.

Helen Moore - did some saloon racing in the UK in the late 90s/early 2000s. She won the Ford Fiesta Zetec Ladies' Championship in 1999.

Beate Nodes - the first woman to finish on the podium in a DTM race in 1986. Her third place came at Avus. She was in the DTM for three years as well as racing other saloons, sportscars and Formula Three.

Waltraud Odenthal (Stohr) - raced a variety of touring cars in Germany in the 70s, up to ETCC level. Nicknamed "Turbo-Maus". Retired after a serious accident.

Melinda Price - Australian. Has completed five Bathurst 24 Hour races and holds the record for the highest all-female team finish. She was 12th in the 1997 event, driving a Castrol Cougar with Kerryn Brewer. She has raced in a number of saloon championships and her best result is second in the Winton 6 Hours with Steven Richards. They were driving a Nissan Pulsar.

Sabine Reck (Schmitz)

Gaby Roosen - winner of many class awards and titles in German saloon racing, especially in the VLN Trophy. Won her class in the 2005 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

Renate Sanders - Dutch one-make saloon regular. Has raced in the Toyota Yaris Cup and the Seat Leon Supercopa, the latter alongside Paulien Zwart.

Laleh Seddigh – Iran’s top woman driver. Has won several races against men as well as her country’s Ladies’ Championship.  

Alexandra Surplice - raced in Australian touring cars in the 80s, usually in a Toyota. Three Bathurst starts between 1980 and 1984.

Anita Taylor - popular British racer in the 60s. Usually drove saloon cars, including a Broadspeed Anglia and a series of Minis, but also did some sportscar events. Won a race outright at Charterhall in 1963, driving an ex-Jim Clark Lotus Elan.

Annie Templeton

Lisa Thackwell - raced a Renault 5 and a Ford Fiesta in Europe, 1989-1991. She entered the Fiesta Mixed Cup with her future husband, David Brabham, in 1991. Her brother is Mike Thackwell, ex-F1 driver.

Claire Tippet - has raced Volkswagens in the UK in national championships since 2003.

Joyce de Troch - raced a Porsche in Belcar with Paul Moonen for several seasons with consistent lower-midfield finishes. Actress and pin-up away from the track.

Smokey Drolet - American endurance specialist who raced from 1959 to the mid-70s. Usually drove a Chevrolet. Won her class at the 1969 Daytona 24 Hours.

Florence Duez - mainly races sports and GT cars in France and Europe and was most active in 1998/99. She has driven Lotus Elises, Ferrari 355s and BMW Z3s. Also did a few rallies.

Bonnie Henn - raced Ferraris and Porsches in IMSA between 1979 and 1985, ususally as part of her father, Preston Henn's, team. Her team-mates included Kathy Rude and Desiré Wilson and she finished in the top twenty at the 1979 Sebring 12 Hours. She died suddenly in 2005.

Michele Kasse – French driver of the 50s, normally partnered Yvonne Simon.  

Marion Lowe - usually drove a Frazer-Nash in the States and at Nassau for Speed Week. She was ninth in the 1955 Sacramento 100 Mile race.

Donna Mae Mims - won the US National H-Production Championship in an Austin-Healey Sprite. Also raced at Daytona and Sebring. Known as "The Pink Lady" due to her preference for pink cars and racewear.

Evelyn Mull - raced an AC Ace Bristol with her husband John in 1957, entering that year's Sebring 12 Hours but failing to finish. She also owned an OSCA at some point during the decade.

Greta Oakes - took part in a number of American sportscar races between 1950 and 1955, including the Sebring 12 Hours. She always drove with her then-husband, Sidney. Their car was normally an Austin-Healey 100.

Martine Renier - entered Le Mans twice in the 70s. Also drove on the Paris-Dakar rally.

Yvonne Simon – French driver, raced Ferraris at Le Mans and other major sportscar races in the 50s.  

Vicki Smith - raced sportscars up to international level in the early 80s, driving a Pontiac Firebird during the 1983 season. Now involved in classic motorcycle events.

Annie Spiers – raced sportscars in Europe in the 50s with her husband Jacques.

Heather Spurle - finished 5th in the 2003 Bathurst 24 Hours, driving a Rollcentre Mosler MT9000R. The British-born New Zealander has raced a number of touring and single-seater cars, as well as setting speed records on land and water.

Corinne Tarnaud - French racer, came 11th at Le Mans in a Porsche Carrera in 1975.

Lieve Thiron- raced in the sports class in Belcar with some very good results. Has also competed in some bigger sports races. Part of a family team with husband Dirk Geerinckx and their son Matthieu.

Jennifer Tumminelli- US racer with ALMS and Womens’ Global GT experience.

Mae van Wijk - young Texan who races a Porsche in the ALMS.

Kiki Wolfkill - races sportscars in the USA and has done some major events. She was one of the competitors in the WGGTS. Outside racing, she is a designer of motorsport games for consoles.

Tomiko Yoshikawa – raced sportscars in Europe and Japan in the early 90s for several teams. Also competed in single-seaters up to Formula 3 in Japan.

 

Other Racing

Gina Maria Adenauer - single-seater racer from Germany. Did some Euro Formula 3 in 2006 and most of the 2004 German Formula 3 rounds.

Cyndie Allemann - Swiss single-seater racer. She competed in German Formula Three in 2006 and had a best finish of second at the Lausitzring.

Rossana Ammirati - young Italian single-seater driver. Has been in Formula Azzurra in Italy for the last two seasons, with midfield results. Previously raced in Formula Gloria and Formula Renault, still in Italy.

Danielle Argiro - competed in Australian Formula Three in 2004. Has also raced V8 Brutes in her homeland.

Heather Baillie (McAlpine)- British racer active in the 80s and 90s. Winner of Kit Car and Ford Fiesta races and the British Truck racing championship. Also raced single-seaters at home and in Japan.

Carolyn Barker - races BMWs in the UK at National level. She entered motorsport through Silverstone's driving school in 2003 and was a front-runner in their novice series. She is also a BMW track instructor.

Helen Bashford-Malkie 

Anne Baverey - Frenchwoman who tried her hand at various disciplines between the late 70s and early 90s. She raced in Formula Three, rallied and attempted to qualify an Argo for Le Mans in 1990.

Susann Bergvall- Swedish rallycrosser, won 1400cc championships in the 1990s in a Citroen AX.  

Patricia Bertapelle - experienced and versatile Frenchwoman whose career encompassed rallying, hillclimbs, international touring cars, ice racing and GT racing. She last competed in a Lamborghini Diablo in French GTs in 2004, finishing fourth in the N-GT class.

Petra Beyrer (Gasser) - Swiss driver who usually takes part in one-make tin-top and sportscar series in Germany and Europe. She will be part of a team in the VLN championship at the Nürburgring in 2007

Jennifer Birrell- British sports and saloon racer of the 60s and 70s.  

Stephanie Boden- multi-talented sports and single-seater racer from Belgium. Has raced in Formula Renault and Belcar.  

Lorina Boughton (McLaughlin) - currently races James Hunt's McLaren M23 in classic single-seater events. Campaigned a number of different single-seaters from the 70s onwards, winning many races and a notable "Man" Of The Meeting award in 1974. She has been Lydden Hill racing and sprint champion on more than one occasion.

Christina Boulay - campaigned a Renault-Alpine A108 in France in 1964, including the Tour de France Auto.

Carla Brackx - popular sports and touring car star from Belgium.

Jillian Butcher (Shedden)  

Natalie Butler - ex karter and saloon racer who did a season of Formula Palmer Audi in the UK in 2001. More recently, she has won races as part of the Formula Woman female-only motorsport franchise.

Jacquie Bond-Smith (Cook) - started in club motorsport in her father's car in 1960. Later, she raced a Lotus Cortina and a Ford Galaxie, the latter in European Touring Car events. Winner of the 1964 BRDC Chris Bristow trophy for the most promising performance at Silverstone.

Caty Caly- multiple French rallycross Ladies’ title winner. Also competes in ice-racing and sportscars.  

Anna Cambiaghi - multi-talented Italian lady who took part in rallies and sports and touring car races in the 70s and 80s. She entered Le Mans twice and was Division Two champion of the ETCC in 1982.

Melanie Cazzani - 2003 French Caterham racing champion.  

Tiffany Chittenden - graduated to Formula Renault part-way through the 2007 season after a long career in karts. She was a front-runner in National 100 for a couple of seasons.

Marika Diana - Italian driver who has raced in Formula Three in Germany since 2006. She won the 2005 Italian Formula Ford Challenge.

Valerie Diederich- races a Caterham in the UK.  

Kati Droste - formerly a very successful karter, now races sportscars in the Maserati Trofeo.

Vicky Dyson - competes in the under-600cc class of Formula Jedi in the UK and is now in her third season. She has scored well in her class consistently.

Ina Fabry- race winner in German F3, drives in various formulae.

Leanne Ferrier-Tander - Australian driver, has raced in single-seaters and saloons. 5th in Australian Formula 3 in 2006 and 3rd in Formula Ford in 2000.

Bia Figueiredo - strong contender in South American Formula 3. She was fifth in 2006, with four second places.

Judit Forro (Hunter)- Hungarian-born. Raced in single-seaters and the MGF Cup in the UK. Married to Jamie Hunter who died while competing in the MGF Cup. Now a sky-diving instructor.  

Natacha Gachnang - former karter from Switzerland, now racing in Formula BMW in Germany. Managed by Willi Weber, manager to Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher.

Natalie Goodwin - Formula Three racer in the 60s. Competed at International level in Europe. She also drove in a number of national and club races in the UK.

Regine Gordine – French driver from the 50s onwards. Competed in early Grands Prix, sportscar races and later, rallies, as a navigator.  

Lauren Gray - frontrunner in the Australian Formula Three Trophy in 2006. She was second overall with two wins. Began her career in production cars.

Rachel Green  

Caroline Grifnée - currently drives for the Daikin team in Belcar with Alexandra van de Velde. She has also raced in the Toyota Yaris Cup and in a 2CV in Belgium, and has some sportscar experience.

Steffi Halm- German youngster who has driven in Formula Konig and Formula Renault. Now racing in Alfa 147 tin-top championship.

Gabriel Konig - much-travelled Irish driver who has been competing off and on since 1962. She was most successful in MG Midgets and a Chevrolet Camaro, winning many races in different series. Has also rallied in the UK more recently.

Claudia Kreuzsaler - Austrian Formula Three driver in the 90s. Entered the German and Austrian championships. Her best finish was third at Salzburg, in an Austrian race. She was less successful in Germany.

Julia Kuhn – young driver who competes in the Formula 3 Euroseries.  

Judy Lyons - Thoroughbred Grand Prix driver.

Nicole Lüttecke - competes mainly in the VLN Trophy at the Nürburgring and has scored class wins there. Also races in the Porsche Cup, one-make saloon championships and in enduro events as part of the works Mazda team.

Thérèse Mahieuw - drove in the Tour de France in 1963 and 1964, in an Alfa Romeo Giulia both times.

Pippa Mann- former karter, racing in Formula Renault in 2004.

Wendy Markey (Amey) - British woman who raced in national saloon and sportscar events in the 70s. She took part in some international touring car races too and drove in works teams for Mazda and Lada.

Denise McCluggage - started out as a motorsports journalist before embarking on a long and varied driving career in the late 1950s. She tok part in many international sports car races and saloon events, picking up a number of class wins. Unusually for an American, she drove in rallies in Europe, gaining more class awards.

Annabel Meade - British karter and circuit racer. Did a part-season in the Renault Clio Cup in 2005. She started her career with a 2nd overall in the Ford Fiesta Si Championship in Scotland in 2000.

Ann Moore - former showjumper, raced a 2000cc Formula Ford in the UK in the 70s, under the tutelage of John Webb.

Cathy Muller  

Katja-Isabel Müller - raced single-seaters in Germany in the 90s. Reached as far as the Formula Opel Euroseries in 1997. Did some saloon racing in 1995 as well.

Alessandra Neri - recent gradute to full-size car competition in Italy. She is currently racing in Formula Azzurra, with some top-ten finishes. In 2006 she combined Formula Azzurra competition with saloon racing in the Trofeo Kia Rio.

Ina Neumann- Danish single-seater racer of the 90s. Competed in the Nations Cup.  

Christina Orr – New Zealand Formula Ford driver with good finishes. Former karter.  

Francesca Pardini- Italian Prototype title-winner in 2002. Races in British Formula Palmer Audi.  

Janine Payne - Thoroughbred Grand Prix frontrunner and successful ARP F3 driver for several seasons.

Tina Pinder - British rallycross driver in the Stock Hatch championships. Her favoured car is the Peugeot 205 and she often makes the "A" Final at meetings.

Sanna Pinola - front-runner in Finnish and Nordic Formula 3, late 90s and early 2000s. Won races in 2000 and 2001.

Valerie Pirie – erstwhile secretary to Stirling Moss who raced and rallied in the 60s, predominantly for his team.  

Sarah Playfair - currently competing in British Formula Ford. A race-winner in Scottish Formula Ford in 2004.

Sarah Reader- British Caterham R400 Challenge driver.  

Clare Redgrave - single-seater racer in the UK in the late 90s. She progressed as far as Formula Renault. She is now involved in a different role, as a motorsport administrator.

Lise Renaud - Belgian sports and saloon racer of the 50s and 60s, and often rally co-driver to Gilberte Thirion.

Kumi Sato - Japanese. Raced saloons in the UK in the 90s and GTs in Japan. Last seen as a member of the works Subaru team for the Nürburgring 24 Hours.

Eve Scheer - Porsche driver from Germany. She is a regular in VLN races at the Nürburgring and also races in more specialist Porsche events. Her "day job" is being a TV actress.

Cora Schumacher - races a BMW MINI in her native Germany. Married to Ralf Schumacher.

Maike Suhr - combines racing and rallying and has driven in the Monte Carlo Rally. Usually races in one-make saloon championships suchas the Toyota Yaris Trophy and the VW Fun Cup, but has also done some VLN events.

Christina Surer- German saloon racer and karter.  

Yolanda Surer (now Tavoli; given name also spelled Jolanda) - started in single-seaters in Germany in 1987, getting as far as Formula 3. Moved to touring cars later. Her best reslt was in 1993 when she was seventh in the German Touring Trophy, with a class win at AVUS in her BMW M3.

Prisca Taruffi- rally and sportscar driver. Won Rome Rally in the 80s. Has driven in FIA GTs and Porsche Cup. Daughter of Piero Taruffi.  

Ashley Taws- successful young Canadian Formula Ford driver.

Iris Thurnherr – young Swiss driver with single-seater and rallying experience.  

Sylvie Valentin- drove in French F3 in 2001. Won class B.    

"Valli" Stack (real name Valerie Stack ?)- 1970s saloon racing pinup who managed to claim some good race finishes and a string of lap records too.

Maria de Villota - now racing sportscars in the Maserati Trofeo and at Daytona. Former Spanish Formula 3 contender.

Hannelore Werner- raced in single-seaters and touring cars in Germany in the 60s, with top-three finishes at F2 and ETCC level.

Amanda Whitaker – multi-champion in Monoposto single-seater racing in the UK. Now racing in Historic F2.

Margaret Allan- Scottish driver with Brooklands wins. Works MG driver at Le Mans.

Dorothy Champney- raced at Brooklands and Le Mans in the mid-30’s.  

Joan Chetwynd- raced at Le Mans and was a regular at Brooklands, often in an MG with her husband.  

Giuseppina Conti - drove a Bugatti T37 in races in 1927. She was eighth in the Circuito del Pozzo that year.

Marie Cousinet - raced a Fiat in European cyclecar events in 1928.

Maria Antonietta d’Avanzo- pioneering driver of the 20s. Entered several GPs and the Targa Florio.  

Marie Depret (Desprez)- raced in French GPs and at Le Mans during the 20s and 30s.    

Albertine Derancourt- popular but not particularly successful French racer of the 1920s.

Simone des Forest - rallied across Europe and took part in races and speed record runs at Montlhery.

Colleen Eaton – Australian racer who competed at Brooklands and Le Mans, occasionally as an MG works driver.  

Doreen Evans – raced at Brooklands from the age of 17. Works driver for MG at Le Mans in 1935.  

Margot Einsiedel  

"The Baroness d'Elern" - Frenchwoman who raced and rallied a Bugatti internationally in 1929 and 1930. She died during the 1930 Algerian Grand Prix when her car hit a telegraph pole.

Christobel Ellis- drove an Arrol-Johnston at Brooklands. Led most of a Ladies’ Race in 1908.

Eileen Ellison- entered a few GPs in the early 30s. Her best finish was 3rd.  

Prudence (Marjorie) Fawcett- drove at Le Mans and Brooklands. Also raced motorcycles.

Marie-Luise Kozmian- raced a Bugatti in the early 30s in her native Poland and elsewhere.  

“Madame Labrousse”- probably the earliest female racing driver. She drove in the 1899 Paris-Spa race.  

Susan Largeot - French. Took part in three Le Mans races between 1937 and 1939. With JE Vernet, she won her class in 1937 and was twelfth overall. Their car was a Simca-Fiat which Susan used in all her races.

Dorothy Levitt  

Marguerite Mareuse- one of the first women to race at Le Mans in 1930 with Odette Siko in a Bugatti. Finished a couple of Le Mans races and some GPS.  

"Miss Y Morel" - MG owner and racer, active in the late 30s. She won hillclimbs and did some circuit racing in 1938.

Joan Newton Cuneo- took part in the famous Glidden Cup in the USA in 1905, and also won some Mardi Gras races before women were banned from competition in the States in 1909.

Vittoria Orsini - Italian noblewoman who campaigned a Maserati 26C in minor Grands Prix in 1933.

Marguerite Peltzer - raced a Bugatti in 1928. She was sixth in that year's Algerian Grand Prix.

Joan Richmond- Australian race and rally driver who won the Brooklands 1000 Mile race with Elsie Wisdom in 1932.  

Anni Roosdorp - commenced racing in 1947, using a Veritas single-seater at the Grenzlandsring in Germany. Her father, Hermann Roosdorp, also raced that car and others around Europe.

Germaine Rouault- French GP and sportscar driver of the 30s and 40s. Also acted as a rally navigator in the 50s.

Fernande Roux- another French GP and sportscar racer of the 30s and 40s.  

Irene Schwedler – Brooklands racer.  

Jill Scott-Thomas- British racer of the late 20s and early 30s. Raced at Brooklands with her husband.  

Odette Siko*NEW*  

Dorothy Stanley-Turner- raced an MG in various races and speed events in the late 30’s. The last female race winner at Brooklands.  

Gwenda Stewart (Hawkes)  

Muriel Thompson- Brooklands’ first female winner in 1908 when she won the Ladies’ Bracelet Handicap and the Scratch Race. Later became a decorated war hero as a WW1 ambulance driver. Continued racing until the 30s.  

Ruth Urquhart-Dykes- racer and record-breaker at Brooklands in the late 20s, usually in an Alvis. Set the Double 12 Hour record with her husband in 1929.

Charlotte Versigny - raced a Talbot in France in 1927.

Elsie Wisdom  

Victoria Worsley- trials and rally driver in the 20s, usually in a Jowett. Had some good race results at Brooklands in the early 30s in MGs and Austins. Her best finish was seventh in an international race.
